About

Who we are

[Quechua dialect] Nuna -> spirit, soul

[Latin] Terra -> Earth

Nuna terra means,  the soul of the earth. It is said that we come to this world to remember who we are, why we came and above all to learn that we come to this world to be happy.

Nuna Terra was born from a dream and a journey to leave a footprint on this world and to be able to sow a seed so the following generations can see the fruits.

We want to share the therapeutic benefits of working with clay, slowing our life to be in the present. Pottery brings many physical-emotional and well-being into your life. Clay is a medium of self-expression and healing, when we are creating, we are directly connecting to ourselves, making tangible representations of our emotions and feelings.

Nuna Terra is not only a conventional studio that teaches pottery classes and sells products online. We are an artistic and healing movement where we want to share, in addition to ancestral techniques and tradition in ceramics, share healing tools through art, therapy, yoga, singing, body movement, etc.

We come to share, teach and heal in community; we believe that in community, we weave the fabric that gives us strength and sustains and holds us to continue walking this life path.

Our pop-up studio

The studio is located in the small Crown Reserve in Newport, Northern Beaches. It is a small sanctuary surrounded by birds and nature. It is a perfect place to disconnect and reconnect with yourself. Also, we have some outdoor activities with clay and nature.

In the studio, we have all the necessary materials to create a perfect hand-building experience!

Our format

Our classes and events are usually in groups. We believe in the power of building a strong community, but we also respect that everyone has their process and time and wants to be independent. That is why we also have private and personalised classes, which are a good tool for learning and growing self-confidence.

Also, our studio is available for private hire, and our team has a wealth of experience arranging workshops for private functions and one-off experiences.

About our founder

“The first encounter I had with ceramics, I felt like it was my home, where I found myself in the present, for the first time, my mind stopped thinking about the past or future, it was like connecting truly with myself again”

- Lia.

Born in Lima, Peru, Lia pursued a degree in interior architecture, which inspired her to create a sustainable and conscious design company. During a particularly stressful period in her life, she turned to art as a source of solace, leading her to discover a passion for ceramics.

It was a new world for her, where, in addition to creating art, it was a powerful therapeutic ritual. After a couple of studies in different studios in Lima, Peru, Lia decided to move to the Peruvian Amazon, first for work and then for an important life experience.

After living in the jungle, Lia had contact with Indigenous communities where they welcomed her, teaching her ancestral techniques in art traditions and rituals.

Immersed in the jungle, she connected with Indigenous communities who welcomed her with open arms, sharing ancestral techniques and sacred art rituals. Through them, she learned about shamanism and the wisdom of master plants—a truly enlightening journey that clarified her mission: to use ceramics as a healing tool to share her transformative process with others.

Currently based in Sydney, Australia, Lia passionately shares the rich ancestral knowledge she has gathered from her diverse life experiences at her vibrant pop-up studio in the Northern Beaches. Always on the quest for growth, she immerses herself in studying and exploring innovative techniques to elevate her teaching and inspire her students.
