A Journey of Healing, Art, and Ancestral Wisdom

A 10‑day pilgrimage into the living heart of the Amazon

Dear Soul Traveller,

Welcome to the sacred valley of San Roque de Cumbaza, a place where rivers cleanse, mountains guard, and the jungle sings ancient songs. This retreat is a call to return to the Earth, to your body, to your heart’s truth.

Over ten days, you’ll be guided through a powerful journey of reconnection: through sacred plant ceremonies, psychomagic art, nature excursions, sound healing, and stillness. But beyond the practices, you’ll be entering into something deeper, a space of remembering.

Throughout our time together, you’ll sit with Indigenous elders and artisans, the guardians of tradition who have devoted their lives to preserving the stories, crafts, and medicines of this land. Their presence offers a bridge to ancestral knowledge that is still very much alive and breathing.

We’ll gather in council around shared meals, in open circles of word and silence, art and laughter. Here, community is medicine. Your story is welcome. Your process is sacred.

Lia Alzamora

Lia Alzamora is a Peruvian-born ceramicist and facilitator whose journey with clay began as a homecoming. The first time she touched clay, she felt completely present her mind stopped racing, and for the first time, she reconnected with herself.During a period of deep imbalance caused by psychiatric medication, Lia discovered the world of sacred medicinal plants. Through ceremonies and traditional plant dietas, she experienced a powerful purification and a return to her true essence. That process became the foundation of her life’s work: using art as a path of healing. Her journey took her deep into the Peruvian Amazon, where she lived for several years and was embraced by Indigenous communities. They shared with her ancestral techniques, rituals, and sacred wisdom. In San Roque de Cumbaza, the place where her journey truly began, she formed a lasting bond with the land and its spirits.Lia carries that jungle wisdom in her hands. Her ceramic practice is a form of living medicine, bringing healing into everyday life through beauty, presence, and ritual. Her workshops and retreats are designed to guide participants into connection with themselves, with the elements, and with community. As a retreat facilitator, Lia creates spaces filled with safety, care, and natural, elegance environments where people feel held, free to express, and open to transformation. Now based in Sydney, she continues to share the ancestral knowledge that shaped her, weaving together earth, art, and spirit through therapeutic clay work and community experiences.

Carmen Santillán has been walking the path of plant medicine for over 15 years. Her journey began not through formal training or lineage, but through a powerful inner calling, one that led her to drink Ayahuasca alone in the jungle, many times, in deep communion with the spirits of the forest.Through this solitude, Carmen developed a direct and authentic relationship with the medicine, a connection that informs every aspect of her work. Her icaros are not learned or rehearsed; they arise in the moment, carried by intuition and shaped by the needs of those in the ceremony. Her voice becomes a vessel, as if in real-time dialogue with the plants themselves. As a mother of five, Carmen embodies strength, softness, and presence. She brings the calm authority of a nurturing elder someone who knows how to hold space without interference, performance, or ego. Her focus is always on creating a safe and sincere environment where real transformation can unfold.Carmen’s work is not commercialised, nor widely promoted. She offers her medicine with care, humility, and deep intention only to those who come in genuine search of healing. Her presence in ceremony is steady, grounded, and unmistakably powerful. To sit with Carmen is to experience a form of healing that is rare: unfiltered, feminine-led, and rooted in true connection.

Ayahuasca

Our retreat works with sacred Amazonian medicines in a ceremonial, grounded, and deeply respectful way. These plants are not recreational; they are ancient healing tools that connect us to the spirit of nature, to ancestral wisdom, and ultimately, to ourselves.

What is Ayahuasca? Ayahuasca, often called the "Vine of the Soul", is a sacred tea brewed from the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and Chacruna leaves (Psychotria viridis). Used for centuries by Amazonian shamans, this plant medicine facilitates deep physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

What to Expect in an Ayahuasca Ceremony?

During our ceremonies, experienced facilitator Carmen Santillán gently guides the space with traditional Icaros (medicine songs), silence, and sacred tools like Mapacho (Amazonian tobacco). The atmosphere is respectful, intentional, and safe. Each participant's experience is unique, but may include: Emotional purging (crying, vomiting, shaking) Visual and spiritual visions

Deep insight into personal patterns, trauma, and healingA sense of connection to something greater. Participation in ceremonies is always optional and you will be fully supported throughout the process, including preparation and integration.

Ayahuasca & Tobacco Purge

Ayahuasca helps purify the body, realign the spirit, and bring forth a profound sense of clarity and emotional release. It’s a tool for:

  • Releasing trauma and grief.

  • Breaking free from addictions or limiting behaviours gaining clarity on life purpose or inner confusion

  • Healing conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and even physical ailments (as reported anecdotally)This medicine doesn’t heal you; it shows you the path so you can heal yourself.

Tobacco Purge Early in the retreat, we offer a traditional Amazonian tobacco purge with Nicotiana rustica. This is not a psychedelic experience, but a deeply cleansing one. The warm tobacco infusion is drunk in ceremony and serves as a powerful physical and energetic detox — preparing your body and mind for the deeper work with Ayahuasca. This ritual clears the digestive system, calms the nervous system, and releases stagnant emotional energy. Though challenging, it is often one of the most clarifying and grounding ceremonies of the retreat.
